Why we love it

I came across FitWood while looking for a climbing arch that would not look out of place in a Dutch living room. Most of what I found was either too plasticky, too large, or too obviously a toy.

The Luoto is different. The birch and aspen combination gives it a warmth that sits well next to real furniture. It is quiet in a room. And because children find new ways to use it as they grow, it does not get outgrown — it just changes role.

What I also noticed is that FitWood actually listens. The II version came directly from years of customer feedback: narrower rungs, a better cushion fit, wedge option added. That is the kind of maker I want to work with.

What age is the LUOTO II suitable for?

From 2 years. At 2–3, children typically start with careful, low climbing. By 4–6, they will use it independently for climbing, rocking, and imaginative play. The 60 kg weight limit means it stays useful for years.

How much space does it take up?

100 cm wide and 60 cm deep — a footprint of roughly 1 m x 0.6 m. It fits comfortably in most living rooms without dominating the space.

How long does assembly take?

Around 20–30 minutes with the included hex key. No additional tools needed.

What is the difference between the colour options?

Natural Birch has a clear lacquer that lets the wood grain show through. Beige, White, White-Birch and Black are water-based paint finishes. All are EN 71-3 certified and safe for mouthing, so suitable if you have children under 3 in the house.

Is the cushion included?

No. The KAURA cushion, wedges, felt pads, TUOHI slide ramp and LUOTO stool are sold separately. Choose the KAURA cushion if you want to use the arch as a softer rocker or reading spot, the wedges if you want the rocker setup to feel steadier, and the felt pads if you want extra surface or floor protection.

Can it go outdoors?

No. The LUOTO II is designed for indoor use only. Prolonged moisture or direct sunlight will damage the wood.

This is one of those pieces children keep returning to in different ways. First it is a careful climb. Later it becomes a rocker, a bridge, a den, a reading spot or part of a larger play setup.
